History

C.H. Brooks practiced law in Iowa until 1886, when he moved to the "boomtown" of Wichita and formed a partnership with David Smyth. The Smyth & Brooks Law Offices were located for some time in the Winne Building, or Zimmerly Block, at 210-212 East Douglas. The Winne, built in 1887, was Douglas Avenue's first five-story building.
