History
In 1898, C.H. Brooks joined forces with Joseph D. Houston, a Kentucky lawyer who had migrated to Wichita several years earlier. Mr. Brooks' skill in corporation law earned Houston & Brooks a reputation as one of the most prominent law firms in the Southwest. The firm's ofices were first located in the Kansas National Bank building on the northwest corner of Main and Douglas. The Kansas National Bank later became First National Bank.
