History

Thomas B. Wall was 20 years old when he was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1887. He moved to Wichita to practice law in 1878 and later became the youngest district court judge in Kansas when he was appointed Judge of the 18h Judicial District in 1885. Following his retirement from the bench, he joined C.H. Brooks in private practice. Willard B. Brooks, son of C.H. Brooks, joined his father's law firm in 1920, and the firm became Houston, Brooks & Brooks. Willard Brooks' career was cut short in 1936 when he was killed in an automobile accident en route to the United States Court of Appeals to argue a case. Fred W. Aley joined Brooks, Brooks & Fleeson in 1932 following his graduation from Yale Law School. In 1936, he became a partner in the firm, then known as Brooks, Fleeson & Aley.
