Kent Meyerhoff grew up on a farm near Palmer, Kansas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wichita State University, graduating magna cum laude, in 1991, and his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1994.
While at the University of Nebraska, Mr. Meyerhoff was executive editor of the Nebraska Law Review, and authored Regulatory Takings—Winds of Change Blow Along the South Carolina Coast: Lucas v. South Carolina Coastal Council, 112 S.Ct. 2886(1992), 72 Neb. L. Rev. 627 (1993). He was elected to the Nebraska chapter of the Order of the Coif, a national honor society to which approximately 10 percent of the highest ranking law students in each graduating class are elected. Mr. Meyerhoff was admitted to the Kansas bar and joined Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, L.L.C. in 1994.
Mr. Meyerhoff’s practice is devoted to estate planning (including drafting of wills, trusts and related documents); business succession planning; trust administration and probate; guardianships and conservatorships; trademark and copyright law; and business law. He is recognized in the publication The Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Intellectual Property Law, Trusts and Estates, and Elder Law. He currently serves as head of the Firm's Business Practice Group. Mr. Meyerhoff has made numerous presentations to community and professional groups, and is co-author of a chapter in the Kansas Bar Association’s Kansas Probate & Trust Administration After Death Handbook, 7th Edition (2008). Mr. Meyerhoff also serves as Judge Pro Tem for the Sedgwick County District Court, Probate Department.
Mr. Meyerhoff is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. He is an active member of the Wichita, Kansas and American Bar Associations (including the ABA’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section, and Intellectual Property Law Section), and is on the Executive Committee of the KBA’s Tax Law Section and Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law Section. He is on the Board of Governors of the Wichita Bar Association; a member of the Wichita Bar Association Public Relations Committee, Probate Committee and Business Law Committee; and a member of the Building Management Committee for the Sedgwick County Law Center.
Mr. Meyerhoff is active in a variety of community organizations and activities. He is a member of the Wichita Estate Planning Council. He is on the Board of Directors of the Center for Health and Wellness, Inc., and Childstart, Inc. He also has served on the Board of Directors of Wichita Lifeline, Inc., and the Arts Council, Inc.
Mr. Meyerhoff was a member of the 2001 Leadership Wichita class and was selected by The Wichita Business Journal as one of its 40 Under 40 honorees in 2003. Mr. Meyerhoff and his wife, Michelle, have been married for 21 years and have two sons.
