Brooks Kancel was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1980.  She attended Kansas State University and graduated with a dual major in Accounting and Finance in May 2002.  She received her Juris Doctor, with honors, from Washburn University School of Law in May 2005.  While at Washburn, Ms. Kancel was a member of the Washburn Law Journal.

Ms. Kancel joined Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, LLC in 2005 and has been involved in a variety of complex litigation cases, including workers compensation defense, employment law, property tax appeals and insurance defense. She has actively participated in taking depositions, conducting discovery and writing and arguing motions. Recently, Ms. Kancel successfully litigated a case in District Court and argued an appeal in front of the Kansas Court of Appeals.

Ms. Kancel is an active member of the Wichita Bar Association and Kansas Bar Association. She is currently the Director of Membership for the Wichita Women Attorneys Association and is on the board for Young Lawyers. Ms. Kancel is also involved with the community and served on an allocation panel for the 2007 United Way campaign.
