Practice Areas:

Brooks Kancel was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1980. She
attended Kansas State University and graduated with a dual major in
Accounting and Finance in May 2002. She received her Juris
Doctor, with honors, from Washburn University School of Law in May
2005. While at Washburn, Ms. Kancel was a member of the
Washburn Law Journal.
Ms. Kancel joined
Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, LLC in 2005 and has been involved
in a variety of complex litigation cases, including workers
compensation defense, employment law, property tax appeals and
insurance defense. She has actively participated in taking
depositions and has successfully litigated several cases in District
Court.
Ms. Kancel is an active
member of the Wichita Bar Association and Kansas Bar Association.
She served as Secretary for the Wichita Women Attorneys Association
for the 2008-2009 year and holds the same office for the upcoming
year. She also served as the Treasurer for Young Lawyers for
2008-2009 and is President-elect for the upcoming year. Furthermore,
Ms. Kancel will serve on the Kansas Bar Association Young Lawyers
board for year 2009-2010.
In addition to her
activities with the bar, Ms. Kancel is also actively involved with
the Wichita United Way having served on an allocation panel for the
past three years and as a judge for the Spirit of Caring Award.
