Practice Areas:

Sylvia Penner was born in Topeka, Kansas in
1976. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1999
from Tabor College. While at Tabor, Ms. Penner was a member of both
the varsity basketball and soccer teams, and served on the college’s
Student Senate. Ms. Penner received her Juris Doctor from the
University of Kansas in 2004. While at Kansas, she served as a
Student Ambassador and worked as a Law Clerk to the District Court
for the Third Judicial District of Kansas.
After law school, Ms. Penner was an Assistant
District Attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial District of Kansas,
where she prosecuted criminal actions and argued before the Kansas
Court of Appeals. As a prosecutor, she was a member of the National
District Attorney’s Association, the Kansas County and District
Attorney’s Association, and served as an instructor at the Kansas
Law Enforcement Training Center. Ms. Penner joined Fleeson, Gooing,
Coulson, & Kitch, L.L.C. in 2008 and practices in the areas of
Workers Compensation and Civil Litigation.
Ms.
Penner is a member of the Wichita and Kansas Bar Associations. She
is currently a member of the Young Lawyers Association, Wichita
Women Attorneys Association, Criminal Practice Committee, Law in
Education Committee, Diversity Committee, is a mentor in the Grow
Your Own Lawyer Program, and was recently named an Associate in the
Wesley E. Brown American Inn of Court. Ms. Penner also serves as an
adjunct professor for Tabor College-Wichita in the Master of
Business Administration program in the area of business
ethics.
