The decades-long relationship between Fleeson
Gooing and Wichita State University (WSU) was
extended recently with Kansas Governor Sam
Brownback’s appointment of Fleeson attorney
Eric Engstrom to the University’s Board of
Trustees. The nine-member Board supports WSU
by managing its endowment, along with oversight
and management of the Braeburn Golf Course
and Woodman Alumni Center on the WSU
campus.
Eric previously served for many years as general
counsel to the Board, following in the footsteps of
the late-Wayne Coulson, who provided legal
counsel to the University, its Athletics Department
and the Board of Trustees for several decades
prior to his death.
Eric is no stranger to public service. He served as Interim Director of the Wichita Art Museum at a critical stage in its growth, and has been appointed by no fewer than six Kansas governors to the Kansas Historic Sites Board of Review, a body he has chaired for several terms. Earlier in life, he was decorated for his military service in the Army in Viet Nam. A more complete summary of his activities, as well as his distinguished legal career, can be found at his biography page.
