The Trusts and Estates Practice Group of Fleeson Gooing recently presented a symposium for estate planning professionals regarding the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010, which made significant changes to federal transfer tax laws. The symposium, which was held at Abode Venue in Wichita, was attended by accountants, financial planners, insurance professionals, and trust officers. The presentations covered planning for higher transfer tax exemptions and portability under the new law; gifting issues and opportunities; marital deduction issues and planning; generation-skipping tax planning; and revoking, terminating, and changing irrevocable trusts.
