Fleeson, Gooing member Kent Meyerhoff testified before the Judiciary Committee of the Kansas House of Representatives on January 31, 2011, in Topeka. Mr. Meyerhoff testified in support of House Bill 2071, which would automatically revoke inheritance rights of ex-spouses in the event of a divorce.
Mr. Meyerhoff co-authored HB 2071, which was sponsored by the Kansas Judicial Council. On February 8, 2011, the House Judiciary Committee recommended HB 2071 be passed by the full House of Representatives. The bill passed the full House by a margin of 100-19 on February 17, 2011, and has now been introduced in the Kansas Senate and assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee for consideration.
