Fleeson Gooing Attorneys Celebrate Constitution Day

Friday, October 4 2019 7:37 PM

Constitution Day was celebrated September 17, marking the date in 1787 when delegates to the Constitutional Convention met for the last time to sign the document they had created. The United States District Court for the District of Kansas, together with the Federal Bar Association and Kanasas Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, commemorated Constitution Day by sponsoring a public reading of the Constitution on the steps of the District’s three courthouses in Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City. Members of the public and the legal community were invited to take part by reading passages in turn.

Shown below outside the Wichita courthouse are the Fleeson Gooing attorneys who participated in the reading, some of whom were accompanied by their children: Sylvia Penner and Ella, Jason Bock and Violet, Dan Lawrence and Roland, Ryan Meyer, Dave Seely and Chet Compton.

Later in the day, Sylvia was among the Wichita lawyers who spoke to students in area schools about the Constitution.  She spoke to fourth graders at Oatman Elementary School in Wichita and also helped alleviate a shortage of supplies by furnishing them with watercolor paint sets.
